The advent of the Internet of things (IoT), Artificial intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning has seen a rise in coding which is a process used to write instructions for what a computer, application, or software program does and how it does it.
What’s Coding?
Coding enhances creativity as it requires creative thinking and an experimental mindset, a skill that is currently sorted after. Globally, coding is being used as a solution to pain points or processes within organizations as they come up with programs that are tailor-made to suit their specific environments.
For Africa, the same is true as we are seeing countries like Rwanda come up with a coding academy, manufacturing automated cars, and South Africa, ZITCO I.T assembly plant in Zimbabwe.
What is in it for Africa through Coding?
Coding can help African businesses come up with programs that aid productivity and advance economies through different variables i.e. Artificial intelligence and coding can improve end to end processes within the manufacturing sector, in tech farming, it increases high crop productivity and reduces the use of water and inputs which enhances food reduction costs, within the Education sector, quick adoption of E-Learning where the Internet of Things can be used to reach children in the remote areas and give them access to education. This in turn will create jobs in different economic sectors.
