The Largest and First Purpose-Built Spa in Victoria Falls

Blending into the surrounding peaceful indigenous woodland will be the largest and first purpose-built spa, the Victoria Falls Safari Spa constructed by hospitality group Africa Albida Tourism. AAT accommodation portfolio is made up of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, Victoria Falls Safari Club, Victoria Falls Safari Suites, and Lokuthula Lodges.

Following a two-year delay of the Victoria Falls Safari spa due to the uncertainties around the impact of Covid-19 on travel and tourism, it had originally been scheduled to open in September 2020. Due to a rapid post-Covid tourism recovery, the much-awaited spa, is scheduled to open in October, placing Zimbabwe’s top tourist attraction on the map as a wellness destination.

The Victoria Falls Safari spa will be located along a north facing ridge in indigenous woodland in a tranquil setting on the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge estate. It will be built in harmony with its surrounds, under canvas, reminiscent of African safari tents and filled with ethnic fabrics and artifacts.

AAT chief executive Ross Kennedy said the build was over halfway through with the bricks and mortar in place and the tented roofs also up, while the interior décor would soon be installed by interior designer Belinda Jones. “Reminiscent of an African safari tented camp, the main area of Victoria Falls Safari Spa will feature manicure and pedicure stations, a hairdressing salon, a relaxation area, a tranquil splash pool and deck as well as a café serving healthy dishes,” Kennedy said.

Three luxurious standalone treatment rooms (one double and two singles), linked by meandering walkways, and like the main area, we will have uninterrupted views of the bush, he said.

Victoria Falls Safari Spa will be managed by Avalon van Leent, who studied holistic spa therapies in Johannesburg for three years at Camelot International, where she gained a CIDESCO qualification, the world’s most prestigious qualification for Aesthetics and Beauty Therapy.

Mrs van Leent was born in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, and has travelled the world as a spa therapist on a five-star cruise ship, before furthering her career in Australia, but the opportunity to return home with her knowledge and experience has always been her dream.
